My Journey in Bringing Hope through Bankruptcy Law

My very first bankruptcy clients were a couple from Chicago who had experienced extraordinary hardship. The husband had lost his job, the wife had health problems and two of their children had been murdered. They had over $100,000.00 in credit card debt. At the conclusion of the meeting of creditors, the wife asked if she could hug me. I was puzzled by the request, because of the things I had heard about how most people dislike lawyers. She said: "Ever since you came into our lives, things have been so much better!" I found myself fighting back tears at my first creditors meeting and went away from that experience thinking if I can use this license to practice law to make people's lives better, I want to do more of that! Since then, I have helped many people get a fresh start in their lives and have handled over 500 bankruptcy cases. Many of them have come back to me to represent them in real estate closings when they are ready to purchase a home.
